Life in the City – Alicante

Alicante lies practically in the middle of the province, but on the coast, in the bay between Cabo de las Huertas and Cabo de Santa Pola.

As the capital with more than three hundred thousand souls, Alicante offers its visitors and residents all the characteristics of a Mediterranean city: a rich past, a beautiful old town and modern neighborhoods, as well as a fantastic street life, beautiful parks and gardens and two beautiful sandy beaches, Postiguet beach in the city centre and San Juan beach further north.

The nightlife, the beautiful seafront and the marina make Alicante an extremely lively and liveable city. The picturesque streets of Alicante’s old town, just below the Santa Bárbara Castle, are full of shops, numerous restaurants and beautiful buildings. The Explanada de España is considered “the” feature of the city, a magnificent promenade between the sea and the city, lined with palm trees and covered with a famous red-black-white mosaic.

The largest service and commercial city in the entire province is dynamic and young, with two large Universities, a wide range of schools, a port, business parks and sits international companies. The EUIPO, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, is also based in the south of the city and so there is a European School to add to the range of international schools.

Buying a city flat in the centre, a beach apartment in the north, a terraced house or villa near the beach, or even a cheap flat to rent out, can be a very good investment opportunity. There is a large selection of properties for sale in every price range.
